... is north of San Francisco. Just drive over Golden Gate Bridge, take the exit to Sausolito, but then turn left. If you drive up the hills there are a couple of view points to see the Golden Gate Bridge. Drive up the hill to the top. It is not easily seen, but the road continues! You come by at Point Bonita Lighthouse. However it is only open a few days. And if you drive all the way to the end, you get to the nice beach seen in the photo.

Point Reyes
... is about 1 hour North of San Francisco at Highway 1. It is a nice landscaped peninsula. At the end of the road is a lighthouse from where you may see whales in spring or fall. Consider visiting one of the nice beaches, especially Drakes Beach and it's visitor center. Did you know that Sir Francis Drake repaired his ships there on one of his journeys?

Lassen Volcanic National Park
... is a nice National Park, where you learn about volcanoes. When driving through, you even may smell sulfur. If you buy a little booklet at the entrance, you get a very comprehensive description of all the interesting spots along the road. Please note that there is lot of snow in winter and the road through this park may be closed till May or June.
